    Default .458 socom mags legal?

So The mag ban has done a wonderful job of curbing the rampant crime the state of Colorado has. My question is..... Can 10 round magazines for a .458 socom in an AR platform be legally purchased in this state now? They look an awful lot like 30 round 5.56 magazines but only hold 10 .458 socom rounds. If the mag is stamped 5.56 you couldn't buy it. An unmarked mag tho?

I'm going to say they are banned as well. Unless they are not readily converted to hold more than 15 rounds of .223 they would be illegal.

If a mag is stamped for a specific caliber and is intended to hold only 10 of that caliber..... it's legal. it would have to be stamped for that caliber though.

As far as I know the AG has not made a definite 'ruling' on the subject. So you are in legal limbo land.

I have thought about buying a case load of them and pushing the issue.. but I don't have the capital to pull it off yet.

    My non-scholarly take on it:
As soon as you load it with 5.56, you show intent, and are therefore in violation of said law.

    But I'm no lawyer.

Readily converted doesn't care what is stamped on the mag. The only marking on the mag that matters to this law is a production date.
It isn't the same as stuffing 50 .22LR into a 15 round 9mm mag as that is not a feeding device for .22 (because it won't work, not because of markings).

Those two words really screwed us in finding workarounds.

458 socom uses a different follower. So you need to replace follower, to use223/5.56 Once you change the follower, you have modified mag for use other than intended .

We don't really have any specific interpretation for guidance on the answer to the question.
