    Default AR 15 Valuation

Greetings, I am trying to help a widow dispose of some of her late husbands things. One of them is a pre-ban (1992) Colt AR 15 sporter. I'm told it has less than a 1,000 rounds through it, and it looks consistent with that claim. Can anyone give me a value range for this beast? I'm told the pre-ban status might create more value. Hope this is an acceptable place to put this inquiry. Thanks in advance.

"Pre-Ban" won't really have any bearing on it's value ... the thing that will make it valuable is that dancing pony on the side.

If you have an account on Gunbroker, you can do a search there for similar guns that have sold (don't judge prices based on asking price, judge them by what they're actually going for. You'll have to log in to look at "completed auctions" listings, but a GB account is free).

    Just use google.

Looks like $750-1100 but right now the gun market is super slow and you will defiantly not be getting top dollar.

I think if you could get $900-$1000 you would be doing REALY well. I would expect more around the $800-$900 range

Pre-Ban matters on imported guns such like AK, SVD, those guns either can no longer be imported or have features the current imported ones do not have. On AR's the pre-ban don't offer any feature that current production ones offer.

Not at all, When you consider 2 states where Pre-Ban buyers were excellent outlets for disposal (CA & NY) are no longer permitting said firearms, OR strict registration.
Now No longer imported guns [ SVD] , that's a different story.
