Electric motor=instant torque. I had to replace some of the hybrid batteries in some of the Chevy volts for a recall for leaks. I was pretty surprised when I stood in it.

Yes, I had a chance to rent a Nissan Leaf, stupid fast and no engine/transmission noise at all. Fun but short ranged.
