Default USO SN-4 1.5-6 or Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6?

I have a USO 1.5-6. I like it a lot. I ordered it, and it's set up just exactly how I want it. Unfortunately, I just bought a Vortex 1-4 for another rifle and absolutely love the true 1X for up close. Now I'm wondering if I should trade the USO for a Razor HD 1-6.

The scope sits on an AR in 5.56. I use it for everything from 3 gun and tactical rifle matches to a back up for one of our local long range matches.

I can probably move to the Vortex for a net cost of zero, plus or minus $100. Basically free.

If someone laid both in front of you and gave you your choice, which would you pick?

BTW, the USO has the digital illumination control, EREK elevation with large numbers, US#1 windage and the internal level. Retail price was $1,765.

Tough choice. Both are great glass, but do you notice that much difference between 1X and 1.5X? I have the SWFA 1-6x on my AR and at 1X with it very forgiving eye relief, it is almost as fast as my Aimpoint. I have a Leupold 1.5-5x on my BLR and really don't have an issue taking snap shots on moving targets in the woods when set at 1.5. Some optical aberration when swinging the rifle as the image moves from the edge of the scope to the center, but expect that is more about the Leupy glass.

Is the USO their dual focal plane model? Razor HD is SFP, if I remember correctly.

I can run the 1.5X up close, I'm just faster with the 1X. The USO is FFP only. It amazes me that Vortex did the Razor in SFP. Dumb, if you ask me. Actually, I'd forgotten it's SFP, that helps with my decision.

I'd agree with you. I prefer a FFP reticle on a low magnification scope. Less crap to look through and with illumination works like a red dot (almost).
