Colfax after dark

Went to dinner at Petes Kitchen tonight. Damn that was the best burger I have had in a while! Great little whole in the wall place. Took my daughter with me and she got her usual diner food, grilled cheese sandwich. Actually looked pretty tasty as well.


My daughter loves to sit at the counter anywhere there is a counter. No idea why, but it doesn't really bother me so I let her pick a spot. She picks the counter seat with our back to the door. Not really happy daddy at the moment. We order our drinks and she is drawing and coloring in her book (5 years old) and I pick up out of the corner of my eye someone coming up behind us on my right. Who then moves to my left well with in my comfort zone. Opens his mouth and I just about got a buzz from him talking to me that close! The nice older lady who was our waitress came and saved me from the horrors. Seems he is a regular walk in bum. LOL.

I then forced my daughter to move to a counter seat where I could watch the door.

Other then that, great place. Recommend it highly.

Been a fan of Pete's for around 15 years now. It is a hole in the wall greasy spoon joint but I love the breakfast.

Pete's Greek Town just east of Pete's Kitchen before midnight. Pete's Kitchen between midnight and 5AM. If you get there before 8PM, Omonia Bakery on the corner of Colfax and Detroit is one of the best bakeries in town.

Though I have to say the "danger" is well over rated. Totally comfortable with my daughter there after dark walking around. Met a few bums but meh, not dangerous.
