Not into paying for addiction treatment you won't use?
(nor am I from general funds, that is the one acceptable use of a sin tax to me)
Not really the amortization of addiction treatment, more the whole ball of wax. We have servicemen who can't get proper treatment, but I'll bet my bottom dollar that we are going to be significantly increasing "treatment" for other issues. While various "religious" groups have been offering (and for the most part helping) people with various mental, emotional and psychological issues for the last 200 years, the Federal Government is more and more forcing them out, hiring nanny state social workers and the results are getting worse. It is a brave new mess as I see it.

I think the big part is the no part as in we have no clue what we are going to do but we are thinking about it.
The specific substance abuse services that will be covered are currently being determined by the Department of Health and Human Services, and will take into account evidence on what services allow individuals to get the treatment they need and help them with recovery.

Really sorry to hear this guys.

OP, take your preium and double it--that is what an ACA approved plan will cost you. I know because that is what I pay and I am close to not being able to justify it. My plan isn't changing, but I am one of the lucky ones who will continue to see premiums skyrocket.

If you are thinking about bending your knee and enrolling in Obamacare, I have mixed feelings. This is a manufactured crisis designed to get us all on Obamacare eventually. It's easy to say "screw 'em I won't do it" but it's much harder to risk a loved one's life and going without insurance.

This is where I say fighitng is easier, but the complancy/idiocy of the average Merican disagrees...

My company still offers the same plans for next year and I'm all done signing up. Saw a slight increase in premiums for the same coverage.
sorry to hear for all the troubles, I expect nothing less from the chief idiot.

Holy crap. I think at that point I would risk it. Do they have a health savings account option or something? At least then you could be saving money tax free for healthcare deductibles and copays

oh and did I mention $260 per month on co-pay for wife's RX. I haven't been to Dr all year nor has my daughter and wife is lucky if she gets to see psychiatrist 3 or times a year. It's a joke but its what comes with work.

FSA account maxes out at 2500 but we cannot get her RX without Dr. Kinda a royal PITA, company is full of old farts getting new hips, knees and other parts while we foot the bill. It's like a mini Obamacare system.

The other huge issue with this whole thing is the lack of correct information/amount of misinformation out there. It hasn't been well explained to anyone and now you have until march to do it or pay the fee.

Was there a provision that the portion your employer pays is going to become taxable income? I seem to recall some thing about that.

    edit:
Seems to not have made it into the law.
Now in 2013 there are 4 items (maybe you could call them tax increases or deduction limits) that will be implemented: 1. Increase in Medicare tax on high-income taxpayers
    2. Medicare contribution tax on investment income
    3. Health FSA (Flexible Spending Accounts) limits decreased
    4. Increase in medical itemized deduction threshold
High income being defined as 200k.
