Ours went up 30% taking another $80 out of our monthly income.

...which is where the unions are really pissed. A bunch of them had Cadillac plans.

Some folks are healthy enough to opt out and pay the $95 penalty for the first year to see what changes come about next year.

The progressives that built this strategy say they need the young healthy people to pay in to offset for claims by older Americans. They also put in coverage under their parents' plans until age 26...which took them out of the insurance market. Brilliant!

This whole mess is unsustainable. It will come crashing down.

I'm on Cover Colorado, which is gone beginning in April. Decided to say on CC until then, Have to enroll in early March to be covered in April. Will be about a 30-50% premium increase for me, and much higher deductible.

One thing I'm considering is going without after April, and paying the penalty. Deductible is so high I will be paying out of pocket for everything, anyway. Plus, I can sign up right away if anything happens since pre-existing can't be denied coverage. The penalty will be MUCH lower than my premiums, and if anything serious really does happen, I can get signed up right away. Definitely F***ed up, but all of us are looking at the tradeoffs and alternatives. Just watched Terminator and think I could do X-acto surgery on myself if I had to.

I think the big part is the no part as in we have no clue what we are going to do but we are thinking about it.
The specific substance abuse services that will be covered are currently being determined by the Department of Health and Human Services, and will take into account evidence on what services allow individuals to get the treatment they need and help them with recovery.

It's my understanding that if you don't get insurance and opt to pay the penalty, the only mechanism to collect the penalty is through the IRS. And the IRS can only do that by withholding your refund on a tax return, they can't bill you for the penalty. So it looks like you could just not get insurance and adjust your withholding from you check so you don't have a refund due at years end. Then if you get sick the new law says they can't deny coverage because of a pre-existing condition, so you get insurance then.

I am truly hoping for more options by the time my plan collapses in June. We are just over 700 a month now as a family. Quite honestly, it is about all I am willing to absorb. It is a damn mess. My wife has been looking into a co-op plan with Christian Ministries who have some kind of exempt status. When I get more information, I will pass it along.

This IS bullshit... What they are really doing is putting all the crackheads, methfreak, deviants and criminals on MEDICAIDE.. Pure and simple. All the butt nuggets where I work are all getting on the MEDICAIDE..... As always, the DEMOCRAPS, are punishing the working citizen. Emperically even low level "civilian" dumbocraps punish the working man.... even punishing the people trying to get oof the dole.
DEMOCRACY is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner... LIBERTY is a well armed lamb contesting the outcome.... Benjamin Franklin
