wifes is a cav arms poly lower 15" bbl . Hogue FF Tube, MTAC scope and its 5.7lbs. The difference between a pencil bbl and m4 profile is .5 or less lbs. Until you start piling crap on it. I will have hers down to 5.2, if that once her tax stamp comes back.

another option would be to build off a New Frontier Armory Model LW-15 Light weight polymer AR-15 Lower

They are really light and strong if you can keep the weight down on the upper might put you in the ballpark.

I took that rifle to a course at Rifles Only, and the weight of the gun made it a breeze to shoot.

I wonder what it would weight with a 'normal' or light weight barrel.....

2lbs 2oz for the current barrel
    1lb 11oz for a light weight barrel =

.44 lbs... which would give me an overall weight of 6.2 lbs.
Just doing what I can to stay on this side of the dirt.

You are welcome to borrow mine within the 72 hours allowed by law and have her try it. You felt it at IDPA, nice and light, just over 5 lbs empty mag and aim point included. Could even throw it on your lower. Then there is no 72 hour limit, as loaning you my upper isn't loaning you gun.
