    Default Need some more help.

    HELP (again)

Wanted to reformat a 16GB SD card (made by Lexor). This card is normally used in my game camera. Brought it into the house and noticed the desk top had a virus scan running. Guess I had an old age "brain fart" because I did the MINUS on the scan, inserted the card and went through the procedure to see what was on the card. NOTHING! If I remember correctly, I couldn't even format the card to clear off whatever had been on it. Now, the SD card cannot be used for taking pictures or anything and is apparently dead because I guess I removed it while the pictures were being down loading and I though it was "stuck" and was just sitting idle in the computer slot.
Is there any way to get this thing live again since it was apparently corrupted?? I hate to just dump a 16GB card. Any worth while suggestions will be greatly appreciated and don't bother to remind me that I screwed up by removing the card while it was apparently working in the computer. Again, no wise ass remarks or suggestions are necessary. Thanks.

    Click on "Start"
    RIGHT Click on "Computer"
    Click on "Manage"

    Computer Management Window Opens
    Click on "Disk Management"
    Wait
RIGHT Click on the drive(removable storage drive) you want to format
    Click on "Format"

I do appreciate the suggestion davsel but that didn't work at all. After going through that process, inserted into the game camera, got three or four pictures taken, brought it back and inserted into the computer and got ZERO. So I formatted the card again and inserted it into my Nikon digital camera, took a picture and got ZERO again. The Nikon told me, in so many words, that the card is no good. Guess this card is due to be thrown in the round file but I'll hang on to if for a little while longer in the unlikely event someone else may have a workable suggestion. Thanks anyhow davsel.

OH, the good news is that it is NOT a 16GB SD card, only a 1GB card. So it won't hurt as much to dispose of it.

Does your camera have a format function?

You probably already tried this, but does your camera have an option to format the inserted card?
I have a Canon camera that often requires a reformat inside the camera on new cards, or cards that were formatted by another means.

ETA: What newracer said ^^ while I was typing

Yep, camera has the format function. I tried it and I received the message that it could not format this card. Starting to look like I'm up "shit creek" without the old paddle.

    Don't even sweat it. They're like $10 now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820178691

They have larger ones too if the camera can use them...

The SD card isn't "locked", is it? Mine have a tiny little switch on them to lock them, they won't do shit if that switch gets moved. Learned that the hard way.
