Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

William Buckley, a respected conservative, suggested that folks should vote for the most conservative person who can be elected. Is Chris Christie the ideal candidate for me? No. Is he miles better than Hillary Clinton? Absolutely. Remember that Christie has now been elected twice, (the second time by a large majority) in a basically Democratic state because of his principles of straight talking, balancing the State of New Jersey's budget, taking on unions, all while convincing everyday folks that these steps were necessary.
I commend you to view Chris Christie's May 1, 2012 keynote speech at the Cato Institute's Milton Friedman dinner. If Christie can accomplish half of what he did in New Jersey as President he would make history.

"When law and morality contradict each other, the citizen has the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense or losing his respect for the law." -Frederic Bastiat
"I am a conservative. Quite possibly I am on the losing side; often I think so. Yet, out of a curious perversity I had rather lose with Socrates, let us say, than win with Lenin."
