When I was in high school a buddy of mine ran for student council. He gave speeches promising shorter school days, longer lunches, no homework, etc. He knew what he was promising was bullshit (you know, laws and that) but he said he thought it was funny that people bought in to it. I thought the students would get a good laugh out of him, but no way would they vote for someone who was clearly fucking with them. Lo and behold my friend wound up being class president.
I only say all this because every time I see our President speak and promise cell phones, health care, etc I can't help but think of my high school buddy, and wonder if the President and his friends know they are full of shit.
