    Default CCW in Washington State

I travel WA often as I have family in Everet Co. I know there is no Reciprocity with CO. Been to the WA state Government website and it looks as if an out of state person can apply. Has anyone here applied in WA? They don't require any proof of firearms training, just a mental health check. I'd appreciate any info or links concerning this. Thanks.

ARFCOM / ar15.com WA home town forum.

Call the WSP, or any other LE dept. Everett looks like the place to start, since you have family and a valid WA address.

You may want to get a Utah nonresident permit. Combined with your Colorado resident permit, it gets you receiprocity in WA, MN, VA and OH. A Washington permit gets you VA and OH, but not MN. Utah permits are about $65 and only $10 for renewal.

Edit: Fees have dropped to $51 for out of state, now $15 for renewal.

WA is one of the easiest CCW permits to get. Stop into a police department or Sheriffs office with your drivers license, fill out the form, get your finger prints taken and pay something like $65. They will call you when it is ready to pick up.
Some jurisdiction play little games like only taking apps on certain days ...etc. I got my last one from the Bothel PD, they are absolutely awesome to work with.
Redman and Bellevue are known to be a PITA, don't know about outside of the Seattle area.
Make sure you stay current on the laws, they have a few weird ones. handgunlaws.us

This more like the way to go. Only problem is, according to this link, I will have to submit the application in person. Unless I can mail in the application/documents, it looks like a road trip.

You can do it by mail. The real kicker is that you have to take a Utah specific class from a Utah certified instructor. I did mine with Profire, and they had someone the to take the pics and do the fingerprint card.

I have family on the Olympic Peninsula. Utah non-resident is the way to go. The class I took at DCF Guns was also valid for Utah. They even provided the forms and the extra fingerprint cards. When I got my renewal with Douglas County, they took care of the fingerprints for something like $10.

Changed my mind on the Utah permit. I don't plan on heading up to MN anytime soon and I'd have to take another CCW class just for the Utah approved instructor. I already have my CO permit and the WA app. process doesn't require me to take a course from a WA cert. instructor. I just fill out the paperwork and they'll mail the permit to me.

Finished the WA app. this morning. Filled out the form(felt just like any 4473) and paid $56.00 for permit and lamination. The actual permit is a flimsy piece of paper just waiting to get washed in your pants pocket. For Out of State they warned me it'll take 60 days to mail it to me.... Only 60 days?....shit, bring it.

Why would WA be so laxed about an out of stater getting their WA permit and yet not offer CO reciprocity.
