    Default Blackpowder Shooters?

I apologize if there is a better place for this, if so (mods) please move it.

In the last year, I have gotten a couple BP pistols and rifles. I haven't shot BP for 20+ years and then I didn't do it enjoy to know (now) what I'm doing.

I would like to go to local range (FoCO) and shoot a few Black Powder arms, with someone that knows what they are doing. If anyone is interested in showing me how to best make huge clouds of smoke, please let me know.

I would be glad to but I'm 5 hours away on the western slope. Just getting back into bp and buckskinning. I prefer real black powder. Goex mostly. Cast my own round balls. Good fun for cheap

There is the Cache La Poudre Mountain Men (or a similar name) BP club up there. Look them up. Some of the old customers of Cache La Poudre Rifleworks are still around and some nosing around local shops should get you some info.
Look up "Iron Thumb Productions" out of Ft Collins, fellas name is Jan Manning and he is as close to a Mountain Man/Buckskinner as you can get.
He can steer you in the right direction.
Tell him his cousin sent you on his trail.

I have an old friend up in Grand Junction, so maybe this is good combined excuse to make the trip!

Check out the Fort Lupton Muzzleloaders. http://spvhs.org/flmlc.html They have two events monthly and there are always guys there that can help with advice. I haven't been there in a few months. But is a nice place to shoot out to 100 yd.

I'm not in your area, but just looking for clarification.

When you say you are shooting Black Powder, I assume you are talking muzzle loaders and percussion or flintlock? Is there cap & ball?

Reason I'm asking is there is also BPCR (Black Powder Cartridge Rifle) which I shoot also. A bit different as I'm loading cartridges but using black powder and cast lead bullets. I shoot my C. Sharps 1875 in .40-65 out to about 900 yards. 430gr bullet on top of 53gr of Schuetzen FFg and .030" fiber wad.

My .54cal flintlock shooting .530 Hornady balls on top of 70gr of GOEX is only good to about 200 yards. So far.

    Good luck.
