Default What optic would you use in the following situation?

Night time in the middle of nowhere.
    Lets say 1/2 moon light
Targets 8x8 at 200-800 yds with green glow sticks attached to them.
Various bright flashes occurring around targets with possible over head flares.

Now here is the kicker it has to be under $1000.

    Whatever optic I had.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

I won't go into your rifle choice or the range...

The only scope at your price range that has made it through my coyote hunts, both night and day, has been a Zeiss Conquest. Burris and Leupold have been no-go's. The Zeiss just collects more light IMO.

Once your budget grows, so do the options.

    My $.02, YMMV

These are the rifles I have but I'm short one optic. Also this isn't a one shoot deal, it's a more of a spray and pray. But it would make it a lot more fun to make it a one shot deal. Also there are about 300 targets so time isn't a factor.

    WTF are you shooting, zombies?

I have been swarmed by 5-6 yotes', but damn! Based on what you just stated, get a NOD and a PAC4!

It's a night shoot at a full auto event. Most are just pointing and empty clips which wasn't very effective so I figured if I could zero in on the glow sticks I could make a lot of booms and sparks. They are shooting at boxes of fireworks and tannerite.

What is a clip? Are you female? <joke>

I won't go into tactics (Mick is far more experienced by far, and you may wish to contact him), but if want to to win, one aimed round will beat 30 out in the air everyday... I stick to my original response and/or the NOD and a PAC4...8)

I would go with a laser for the 200-300 stuff on the AR-15...cooler and easier to see the boom-booms, and then a fixed 10x something with excellent light gathering on the .308 for the far stuff.
