I did it on a 335i once. Got it almost all the way back together and was going to put in the screen for the navigation. Couldn't for the life of me find the connector for it. Hunted for about 40 min till I found it down by the shift lever in the center console. Could not route it up with out completely removing the whole dash again. Why would you make that harness that long? It litterally came out of a harness up by the screen hole and dropped down all the way to the center console. I was a little irate at myself for missing it.
