I live in a new (under construction) neighborhood and there have been several reports around the neighborhood of things disappearing off porches after delivery, but not always near the construction. The neighborhood has over 1000 homes and all the construction is in one area, but the thefts are taking place all over the neighborhood. As much as I would like to attribute it to the construction workers (I've seen some mighty shady things in the 8 months that I've been living here!), it could just as easily be a dirtbag neighbor or a kid who's parents didn't instill good principles in them.

Contact the vendor/shipper, and go from there, you should get compensated one way or another, fedex and UPS are both real good about this kind of thing.
Obviously you have a poor credit card company or have no idea how this works. The vendor won't lose the money from a non-delivered package. You can open a claim, which will be kept open, and the CC company has more muscle to rattle the cages. When the merchant proves to the CC company that the package was shipped, then they go to the shipper and will usually get resolution much faster because they know the game better. As a merchant who ships a lot of stuff, that is the best way to proceed and what I would do as a consumer as well.

So it happened to me once. The driver will come back and you will have to sign a sheet that say you never received your goods. Then they send that to the company and the two(Oakley and UPS in my example) end up eating the cost. Shitty part is, it took Oakley about 2 months to credit my bank account, so I hope you aren't in a rush.

No advise on the missing items, but I do have a drop cam and I love it. It has the great feature to alert you the minute it detects movement so it's awesome to watch stuff like this. Their CVR is also great and highlights anytime there is movement so you don't have to spend hours going through footage. For the $200 up front and the $10 a month it's been a good investment for me.

And then who's responsible when they leave the garage open? I've got $70k in vehicles and probably $20k in tools in my garage, I'm not giving some delivery boy my code.

+10, and cheaper than drop cam. What good is the drop cam if you can't find the person to arrest.

Fedex will leave my stuff around back sometimes, instead of on the porch or behind the bushes. Most of my stuff gets ordered from Amazon, though, so if it gets stolen from the porch, I get a no-questions-asked refund or identical item shipped immediately when I report it.

Not sure if it was the construction workers. We have had construction going on for all 6 years we have lived here and this is the first instance of something getting swiped. We do have a few shifty neighbors and kids that I do not like. Amazon is replacing and refunding everything that I ordered. Still not sure on the other vendor yet. Amazon has been great through this.

Dropcam is something I have wanted for a while. I can put inside my house and have it point out the window to the front porch. It is not just for this type of stuff, but general security as well.

    Once again thanks all.
