I like the xdm over the glock.
For almost a year I have been exchanging my Glocks in 9mm for 40's. I have conversion barrels for seven of my Glocks, five 40 to 9, two 40 to 357 and two 10 to 40. I have come to the decision that the 9mm is only a 9mm but the 40 can be a 9 or a 357 with just a barrel and a mag. The 10's can go from 10 to 40 or 357 or 9x25 Dillon as well. I have never had any reliability issues with any of them.
All that said I still like my Kahr K40 and PM40.

Steyr m40
I had an xdm in .40 and a glock 22. I hear that m&ps are good. Go for any of those.
That's one I'd really like to try.
I like my G32 which has a .40 barrel and a 9mm barrel, so it's really a G32/G23/G19!!

I owned/ own a Berretta PX4 .40 storm, a Glock23, and a FNS .40. The FNS shot the best, the G23 was the most reliable, the PX4 sucked.
My money would be on a CZ, or an M&P 40 full size though, both help tame .40's snappy recoil nicely.
