I haven't played console games in a few years so I'm not up to speed on which might be better.
Never played COD but BF provides benefits for playing as a team. If you can get a 5 man squad to work together on the 64 player maps you'll typically crush the other team (I'm usually on the receiving end). There are also several game types so you can change it up depending on what you're in the mood for. So far it seems pretty balanced across the classes and weapons/vehicles.

There is also commander mode where you help direct your team (spotting, launching drones and cruise missiles, giving squads orders, etc and not actually in the fight). There's an ipad app for it which I haven't tried out but seems like the way to go. I'm going to give it a try in San Francisco this week.

These might help you decide (headphones would be a good idea if you're around kids / work, for the end of the first one anyway)

Jk'ing. My brother asked me why I liked BF more and I found those and sent them to him. Thought they were pretty funny.

Good. I need a more strategic game so I can beat my 11 year old. Haha

Battlefield requires you to work as a team to actually win. Works even better if people on the team are using different charter classes. I like it a lot more than crackhead run and gun COD

Common misconception and w/o a good team on CoD you WILL get throttled and have a bad experience.

I play on an xbox and don't get involved in the online games. Only the campaign single player mode. Which game would you all suggest?

Haven't played Ghosts much but I'm not gonna lie, even being a huge BF supporter, BF4 single player has been pretty bad so far. Granted I'm barely into it... The beginning was good but the second "act" was pretty lame if you ask me. Enough to make me not play it anymore (I will play through it at some point though). However I do play BF for the multiplayer.

Go MP... the learning curve at first (if you're not familiar with previous BF games' MP) is rough, but stick it out, you get into it and it's more addictive than any other game. I started with the first Frostbite Engine MP for 360 (I think?) on MOH (the newer one), then played Bad Company 2 and BF3... In my opinion I think BF is superior to COD- more tactical.
