    Default Getting a mossy 500A

Yup, getting it from a pawn shop. As it sits it's got pretty good wood and a 26" vented rib barrel on it but I'm going to be transforming it into a home defense gun.
I'm wanting a mag tube extension and a side saddle for sure but open after that.

Congrats. I had one that I converted. I kept mine simple. No magazine extension stuff. Too hard to do on a Mossberg in my opinion.

Cut the bbl down to18.5" then install a Hi-Viz front sight. You will like the results. Why pay another $100ish for an 18.5" bbl when you can utilize what you have. Unless you plan on dropping some poultry, in season.

I do like the sounds of that set up. I'm wanting to keep the 26" barrel unmolested for the poultry variety

Here's is a couple of mine. The one with the shorter barrel was originally a 26" bbl that was cut down. I added a hi viz sight, cheap sling, side saddle and a light. Even after all that I was well under $300 for a nice HD shottie. Both have now been replaced with a 590.

Awesome. I'm sure it will be a perfectly suitable HD shotty. I could never get into the Mossberg just because of the safety setup. But to each their own.

I honestly love the safety setup on mossys, it was the pump release that I hated. Now that I've played with it I'm set. I enjoy it.
