    Default Turkey hunting?

I've always wanted to give this a try, but I think it would be very helpful if I could tag along with someone for a hunt to see how it works, either just as an observer, or as a second gun. I'm in Ft. Collins area.

    Thanks!

Good luck. Turkey hunting honey holes are like fishing spots...secrets. Get yourself a video(for mimicking purpose) and some calls and practice,a lot! I would invite you but my camp is full of newbs and I can't bring along anymore. I'm not trying to sound like a dick but that's the way it is. Its so fun and CO has birds. You'll like it if your patient and got any woodsman-ship.

I've never been, but my friend at the DOW wants to take me. Just applied for my first preference point. You can get 2 per year so it takes quite a few to get a license.

Definitely correct about the honey hole idea. Building points will give you time to meet enough land owners you might find a good place to go.

I spoke to the NWTF CO president and asked about the whole preference point thing for the draw only units and he told me he just goes west of his home (Woodland Park) and gets one every year on NFS land. Get your points up but not needed. THe spot I whent to last year is an over the counter unit and I saw plenty. No I didn't get one but this is the year. I can feel it.

If I had a nickel for every time I uttered those words I could buy myself another evil black rifle.

Positive thought=positive outcomes. Or at least that's what keeps me going back for more. Hell I had so much fun last year turkey season NOT filling my tag. The woods call me back year after year!
