Default Good city to live in surrounding Denver?

I'm considering moving to one of the surrounding cities of Denver to finish up school (Metro) and find some temp work. I don't really know the cities that well as I usually just drive right through Denver. I was wondering if you guys in the surrounding denver area had any suggestions. I'm looking for a small apartment in a decently safe neighborhood.

I live in North Thornton (136th and I-25) and I really like the area. A little further south around 120th there are lots of apartments to choose from. Close to Cabelas too.

Lots of decent apartments south of Hampden on the I25 corridor. Just check them out before hand because there are a few exceptions.

You can leave your guns with me when you move deeper into the city. I'll make sure they stay well oiled and don't get neglected.

Edgewater ain't bad. It's in Jeffco so no issues with parking tickets on street sweeping days or any of the BS. Only 4 miles to downtown.

South metro Denver of course (centennial west of I 25, Littleton, Roxborough).... Higher altitude, more parks, better air quality, no risk of flood.... Close to Cabelas and easy drive to the foothills / mountains for all day shooting fun.
