Default So I Was A Retard Out At Blgc Today!

Not that I like to make fun of myself but this was great! As we all know it snowed a few days ago. We also know it has been a good temp lately so that snow is melting like crazy! Keep this info in mind:

I drive up there today with no issues. Highway 86 was perfect. County road 105 (which is dirt for those who have never been) was perfect! I get into the range and here is where I go stupid! With a bunch of people looking on I decided to take my Toyota Camry down a hills that is mud and snow covered. The mud out there is partially clay as well! I get it down by sliding the whole way then I decided to plow through more mud to get to a burm! This was a bad idea! My car has VSC (vehicle stability control) which cannot be turned off. For those who have no idea what it is, keeps the car from spinning out of control on slippery surfaces. One way that it does that is temporarily kill the power to the engine to control the spin. Here was my problem, FWD going up a hill that is clay/mud with snow and water run off! OOPPPS. Lets just say many people watched, nobody helped, and thank god I was able to turn around and get back up the hill by punching it going 40! My buddy wanted to me to drive to the shotgun range and I told him there is no freaking way. ONe of the blgc board guys watched this and probably loved every minute of it and he told me with his CJ5, lifted 4", and mud tires he got stuck going to the shot gun! Thank god I was not stupid enough to try that one!

    Sorry for the long read!

perhaps you need someone from Castle Rock to goto BLGC with! I know someone who may be interested in going out there with the possibility of joining! Someone who happens to have a 4X4 Dodge ram 3500 Cummins too. Just a thought.
Don't follow me you won't MAKE IT!

If the CJ5 was silver, the 'board member' was the grounds keeper (Bob or Bill can't remember it's been a year...), and he lives in the house just west of the shotgun range. If he says you ain't gonna make it, then he would know.

Cold and Snow won't stop shooting out there, but wet and wind will. Once shot a match out there after the snow melted. I had so much mud built up on my feet, they were easily 5 lbs heavier. Needless to say it was a lost brass match and all mag reloads were with retention or someone had to flag where the mag hit the mud of you might loose it.

Sounds like it was a good day to spend at the 100yrd covered range.

I thought it was him but I had only seen him once before. I spent the whole time on the covered 100 but getting to it was hell. A ford f-350 was leaving as I was arriving I had them watch to make sure I could get back up. After I did I parked near the gate and walked to that berm

I was out there once for some training, and it seems like a very nice facility. Too bad it's not closer to me.

I suppose I could be! I've had a bunch of people ask me about it but I have never been so I would like to check it out once and see but I hear you have to be sponsored to get in which I have a line on, I also have been given a flier for the open house in June? Have they gotten anywhere on the Archery range yet?
