I can personally recommend Danner Acadia and the majority of Red Wings boots.

I like Danners. I wore a pair of Grand Slam GTX's for quite awhile doing some rough work involving lots of hiking. Still wear em, but they are a little tore up. Then got the USAF TFX insulated and like them too.

I really hated spending the money on a pair of boots but the current pair of Red Wings I have are the most comfortable boots ive ever had. A lot of that has to do with the fact that I have very narrow feet and they are the only pair that have really fit properly. Finding boots that fit me "off the shelf" is impossible but my red wings have really helped reduce my foot and back pain.

Have you ever stopped by Jim's boots here in Brighton? I personally like my DM's. They aren't the best for snow and ice but I slip on my yaktrax.

Yea I bought my elk trackers from him a few years ago he's a good ol boy. But I ended up with a pair of redwing 875s they are a bit flashy in new form but so far I like them but they are a bit stiff. But all good boots have a break in period and they are 100% American made with American matirial

I've worn these Chippewa 8" Loggers for the last 10 years for the fieldwork portion of my job. They are hell to break in, but I love them.

I just realized today that they are handmade in China

Can anyone compare Danner to Bates with Durashocks? I've work the latter and they were almost like wearing comfy sneakers, but they aren't quite suitable for wearing in an office. The Danner Light 2 are ok appearance wise, but are super pricy which is why I'd want to know if they'll be as comfy as the Bates boots.

Bought my RedWing Boots while we lived in Trinidad about 17 or 18 years ago. They are the “Clapton” model which I believe are now discontinued. Just had the third set of new soles installed and cost only $65 for long wearing Vibram soles. Best Boots I have ever owned.
