I disagree. I believe that despite the fact that the show has been tremendously popular and profitable, most of the A&E top brass would love to find an excuse to get rid of it. They only green lighted it in the first place because they thought it would be nothing but a "make fun of the hayseeds" show but low and behold the hayseeds in flyover country actually identified with these stupid bearded hicks (who turned out not to be as stupid as A&E thought) and now its a touchstone of mainstream Christian and conservative culture the A&E people don't want to believe exists let alone dominates America.

A&E was started to be sort of an NPR of Cable ... with off-Broadway plays, symphonies, BBC leftovers like Masterpiece Theater and maybe some shows from Jazz clubs at night. It was "Arts & Entertainment". It was meant to be an "intelligent" cable channel that would go out of its way to alienate Joe Sixpack and his ilk. Then Disney bought them and demanded they make money so like most cable channels devoted to arts, history, science and learning they became reality TV channels.

Cash will always take precedence over personal beliefs of executives. The show makes huge money for the network, they wouldn't work to get rid of it. At the same time, they are beholden to the viewers, and if enough people complain that they feel it could hurt them, they will drop the offender.

It's Phil and Phil alone who will decide how this goes. He gets to decide between sticking to his beliefs, or keeping the cash coming in.

It seems to me that Phil already chose principle over payola. He said quite calmly that the TV show was eventually going to end and it didn't sound like he cared one whit. This is one case where the "stars" are about the only ones who don't seem to care about the cash -- and I admire them for it.

How amazing in the land of the free they are now firing people for there religious beliefs. Aren't these the same beliefs from the same bible that the founding fathers based the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights on. Aren't we the same country that sends it's solders all over the world to squelch religious persecution when it occurs. Now the liberals in this country have determined that religious persecution is justified. A citizen has read the bible and relates what he believes it to say in public when asked. I don't have any idea what it looked like in Hitler's Germany when they began persecuting the Jews. I just don't think we as a country want to just let this kind of thing go without kicking and screaming, it doesn't matter under what guise they try to justify it. I just think there is no way the anti religious liberals could allow somebody with this much of a following to witness the bible to the masses. Take off the head of the snake and keep chipping away at morality.

And this is very close to the root of the issue here. It's all part of the movement to allow evil to triumph and to silence (and eliminate) Believers. Study history and the documentation of communism: 2 of their planks (core tenets) are what? PC and the promotion of sinful behavior (homosexuality, pedophilia, etc.) Any of those things sound familiar? Next thing we'll see is the pedophiles asking for the same 'special rights'.

This is a very core issue to the future of our nation and the media and the powers behind tptb are sending a very clear & strong message. Are you listening?
