Affluenza has nothing to do with which inanimate object to blame instead of an individual's actions.

Affluenza is the premise that excessive consumerism can cause mental disorders. One being an ambivalence to those around him, because of his perceived privilege. There is little scholarly science behind the theory. The fact that an attorney used it to help his client and it worked is laughable at best.

I really don't get insanity pleas and others similar to this. I mean, if you're insane, doesn't that make you MORE of a threat? Shouldn't your sentence be doubled in that case, as you're more likely to commit the same action again?
