    Default Turkey Track Ranch

Anybody here ever been out to the Turkey Track Ranch State Trust Land area east of Fountain? Worth a drive out there looking for Rabbits, Coyotes or Pdogs?

    Thanks

State trust lands get hit hard for coyotes. The dogs on those properties get a lot of education. You can check google earth for p-dog colonies before you drive, but don't get your hopes up.

For rabbits, I bet you could find a few jackrabbits if you are willing to beat the brush. But I'm not sure what you would do with one, they taste disgusting, IMHO.

Been there a few times. Have seen a couple jack rabbits when coyote hunting. One coyote a few years ago when rabbit hunting.

There is a small p-dog colony about a mile walk from the entrance but I wouldn't be surprised if they gone. I shot the only 2 i saw there last year and when I walked through the town most of the holes hadn't been used in a long time.

Every pronghorn season that whole track looks like a pumpkin patch from all the orange of hunters clothing. You are only supposed to park in the designated areas and when those are full the hunting area is considered full. Hunters park up and down Peyton Highway and Squirrel Creek Road making it a place that is one of the most hunted properties in Colorado per square acre.

There are some coyotes and rabbits. Most of the coyotes are pretty deep in close to the private property to the south in the center part of the wildlife are. They hide out in the sand hills on the south side. They are huntable but there will be a lot of walking involved.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I have a muzzleloading pronghorn tag next week for units 110, 111, 118, 119, 123, and 124. Does anyone know if it is overcrowded for muzzy season too, or just rifle seasons? I have to drop off my kids in the mornings, so I can't get there early. Any other areas to hunt goats in these areas?

    Thanks
