Can anyone offer thoughts on the Troy VTAC (long slots) vs. the Troy Alpha (round holes) rails? -any advantage or disadvantage to one over the other?

I've used both... They weight pretty much the same. Attach the same. Feel the same in hands. Here is my experience.
VTAC
You can use the same magpul MVG on this
Alpha
can use troy squibs
round attachement like bipod adapter, QD, etc
I have the round troy alpha rails. Going to sell them when BCM releases their keymod.![]()

My Feedback
Personally, I find the alpha rail a bit "grippier" than the VTAC.
Having own(ed) both, I'll echo the above sentiments, the Alpha rail definitely has more traction than the VTAC and also lends itself better to aftermarket accessories. Depends what your end game is however, it really doesn't much matter if you don't plan on hanging anything on it.
I do not like the original attachment method for either rail which used a proprietary barrel nut and and the rail itself as a pinch clamp. The newer attachment method uses the standard barrel nut and it much sturdier.
I can not comment on the VTAC, but I do have the Alpha rail. I like the way you can install picatinny rails where you want them. Mine has the built in flip up iron, that sometimes, flips up while firing. Other than that, I enjoy it. I like that fact that it is fairly small in circumference for a better grip.
Thanks for the input, I appreciate it/
