i refuse to go into walmarts. trashy as hell and hardly anyone is ever around to help you find anything. i went to get ammo once and waited 40 minutes and 4 calls for assistance before the guy came, and when he did he didn't even speak a single word to me the entire time. sometimes spending a little more is worth it.
target is much cleaner, the people are much nicer, you can actually find people to help you and their produce isn't already brown. HOWEVER, i get all my fresh groceries at sprouts (surprsingly cheap, i always figured it was expensive but its not on the fresh stuff) so like my veggies, fruits, meats. then i get all my boxed stuff at target. all major retailers support shipping jobs overseas and making things cheaply, but walmart sets the standard and it shows in their stores. its all about making everything as cheaply as possible. no thanks. i have found with the target cartwheel app you can easily save the difference between walmart and target, especially on things like wood furniture and big ticket items where they are often 15-20% of on cartwheel.
if you are all about getting everything as absolutely cheap as you can, then yes, walmart is your best option and it is widely known. i prefer to pay a bit more for a bit better quality and service. so i basically shop around between target and safeway.
