I went shooting with a buddy once, it was close enough to someones house (still a long distance away) that they called the police because they heard shots and thought we had "machine guns". A lone police officer came to see what was up. We offered to let him shoot with us, which he declined, but no issues at all.

That being said, a BB gun registry is asinine at best, also how would they catch you? Since BB guns are so quiet? We used to shoot BB guns off the deck at my parents house and no one ever knew because of the lack of noise.
