I was thinking this too. But it's also a subtle way to show good people doing heroic things with those guns.

For the record, I've been in the poor house. I saved my money. I didn't buy hipoint. I'm not casting judgement, but my money is better spent elsewhere. MMV

I had a Hi-Point once, a 9mm compact, came with the box and everything. I paid $50 and a brick of .22LR for it. I took it shooting twice and fired a box of 115 FMJ through it. At eight feet with a two handed hold it would not shoot to point of aim. With a rest it grouped about 6 inches around point of aim. But, I could always put shots into center mass and it did not malfunction in any way shape or form through out the 50 rounds fired. In the end I sold it for $100 and 100 rounds of .45ACP. I probably won't get another unless it is given to me.

It also only includes US-manufactured numbers for some handguns (Glock), while (presumably) basing other placements on total production numbers of some foreign guns, regardless of how many were made in the US vs imported.

Not surprised Ruger is #1 with all those Mk3 and 22/45 guns out there. Vast majority of the Sig, S&W and Taurus numbers are probably also 22s.

Let's agree to disagree on this.

I believe this was the subtle underlying point of the article. I believe that the WP used the movie tie-ins to show that the use of forearms in movies is what's driving the sales/ownership of firearms. Sort of like saying "Every gun owner just wants to go around shooting things up and killing people because Hollywood has made it look cool". I think this is just another anti-gun agenda piece.

Why would you think that? It clearly states the numbers come from the ATF statistics of US produced weapons. I don't think a single foreign made gun is included here.

the only reason why i posted this was that almost all the pics where of hollywood movies using the pistols in some fashion...A couple of you hit it on the head. Since all of us 2nd amendment supporters are to be members of the tea party which equates to terrorists....figure out the rest of it. To be honest, i'm surprised i didn't see a bunch of draco's and a couple ar15's in there to complement some of their agenda...

I'd like to see actual sales numbers from manufacturers. I've personally never seen anyone at any range with a Hi Point.
