    Default IIHF World Junior Championship

Anybody else watch the first day? Defending champions Team USA beat Czech Republic 5-1. USA plays Slovakia next on Saturday. All games are aired live on the NHL Network and re-aired during prime-time if you don't feel like getting up at 6am to watch hockey.

The team has 3 Colorado boys, Will Butcher and Quentin Shore from Denver University and Jacob Slavin from Colorado College (go Tigers!). Butcher and Slavin both scored goals.

Russia, Sweden, and Canada also picked up wins against Norway, Switzerland, and Germany respectively.

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

I watched it, the Juniors have been one of those events I don't miss for the last four or five years.

I thought the USA did a fine job today, but I was more concerned at how bad the Czechs were, its sad to see them struggle they used to be so strong but now they have been replaced by the Fins, who would have thunk it?

Canada looks strong as always, so no surprise, maybe I am wrong but the US looked huge compared to the Czechs, good forecheck and lots of pressure defense and offense, even the neutral zone, good game all around...

Team USA picked up a 6-3 win over Slovakia. USA looked pretty sloppy at times, but pulled it off.

USA did look shaky in the 2nd period but still took care of business. Looking forward to the USA vs Canada game...

USA had an expected 8-0 win over Germany today. I kinda feel bad for the Germans... they had a couple good chances, but USA's backup goalie was on top of it.

USA-Canada should be a great game.

USA vs Canada was a good game. Unfortunately, USA lost 3-2. Oh well, on to the playoffs. Looks like USA will play Russia in the first round.

CC's Slavin and DU's Butcher both picked up assists in the game.
