Anyone catching this nasty flu?

Yup. Got it while I was in MN for the holidays. Second time in a month. My wife got it last night.

I don't so far. I'm not sure that I've ever had the flu before to be honest. I've never missed work for more than one day for sickness in my life.

I've been sick since Sunday. I haven't been this sick in 10+ years.

I find it strange that the flu seems to manifest itself so differently between some people.... I have not had a single ounce of GI trouble. It's been 100% head and lung. As has been the case the only 3 other times I can remember being sick, mine started with a sore throat due to post nasal drip. 36 hours later the sore throat was gone but sinus congestion was heavy. 36 hours after that the sinus congestion was mild because it had transitioned more to phlegm in my lungs than in my head... I am now getting over that last stage and should be back to normal within another 36 hours. Pretty typical progression for me it seems, but I think I've only been sick 3 times since high school.

I suspect a large part of that issue is people using the terms 'flu' and 'cold' interchangeably.

I've never missed work for more than one day for sickness. Starting at lunchtime today I started experiencing text book flu symptoms just like Trot mentioned. I already gave my boss notice I might be out this week.

Wife is in bad shape. Took her to the doc and they are not sure what it is. I do not think it is the flu but I have a box of tamiflu on the counter.
