Doesn't look like I am going to be able to take my test Saturday. Wife scheduled a meeting with our potential builder at the same time.
15th anyone?

What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?
-- Ayn Rand, Anthem (Chapter 11)
I'm going to the candy store today!
I'll be there in a few minutes.
I need a dual band antenna replacement, for when I drove into the garage with my antenna attached.
Can't do it Tuesday nights, already have a weekly net. Cant get on usually till 7pm or later.

Can anyone give me an example of a reason for a vanity callsign? Not talking about "grandpa's old callsign" or something sentimental that I could easily understand. But for a new guy starting off, is there any value? I have to admit the system is still alphabet soup to me. Maybe it'll make more sense once I study a few more flash cards... LOL.
Shorter callsign to remember? Spell out 80085? etc...??
I went from 7 symbol down to a 4 and did that for DX work. Also much easier off the tounge
Maybe something easier to say/remember.

I have no idea. I haven't studied that part yet.![]()

The vanity doesn't have to have 0 in it, it can be one of the other numbers for other parts of the country. Local gal just upgraded to extra and changed her callsign to K2***. Depending on your license, you can shorten it to a 1x3, the x denoting the region number. I saw a guy with a ham license plate and a (had to be vanity) callsign of N0MUD. I think a lot of the Extras get theirs shortened for DX work, as the less letters to read out, the easier it is. I looked into a vanity for myself, dropping one letter, the D off my callsign, and was hoping to ditch the K in it for an N. The last three letters of mine happen to be a gamer's phrase, that a few swore I had to have chosen a vanity to get, lol. Alas, when I looked up callsigns, somebody in MN has the exact callsign I wanted, so I may have to be content with just dropping my D.
Wife and I stopped at the candy store Saturday, and I picked up the study guide for the Extra test. That is going to take some studying.
