I removed mine due to solicitations.

I was about to open an LinkyDinky Account before I even considered opening FB account.
I just thought I still get massive amount of door-to-door sales, to other sales job mail spam from Careerbuilder/monster/hotjobs. I didn't need another one.
I've heard others told me that they are getting massive door-to-door sales solicitation job to a guy who is looking to get a professor job. LOL
Therefore it was no go for me.

You guys should just change your settings so they don't contact you. I used to get tons of extra emails, recruiters, and marketing stuff and it got really annoying. So I just disabled all that stuff in the settings. I have my settings set so anyone can still request to connect, but I control weather i accept their request to connect.

I only get the occasional connect request from weirdo's I don't know and are >3+ connections away.

My last 2 jobs came from linkedin contacts. and about once a month I get some type of real opportunity .

The key is to use linkedin for business and not make it facebook
