Unions, pension prefunding, it has to get Congress' permission to change rates, reduce services or change its operations. Oh yeah and e-mail
To their credit, the NSA is the only agency of government that listens to the American people.

I was about to answer this until I realized it was sarcasm. I should have recognized that sooner...

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

So today I watched the postal delivery truck drive up to my mail box, and I watched the delivery guy put my mail in the box without even leaving the cab.

Then I went out to get the mail, and found an attempted delivery card in the mailbox, with today's date on it, saying that the delivery guy had attempted to deliver a package to us but we didn't answer the door.

While I was staring out the window, this USPS ninja escaped his running van, darted unseen to my door, ran the doorbell silently, and slipped back to the van where he filled out the card. All without me seeing it even right under my eyes. It was awesome.

So rag on them all you want
    Bullshit.

The USPS has been in a deficit for years to the tune of billions. They lost $5 billion last year alone. The only reason it's still operating is the Federal govt.

Most of what the USPS delivers to me is junk mail. They obviously don't charge enough for the 50-100 lbs. of it that I get every year. They deliver garbage (...and then I pay Waste Management to take it away). They keep increasing the cost of 1st class postage to stem the flow, but they're just encouraging the citizenry to find a cheaper way and the USPS continues to reduce their revenue (it's a disincentive, like higher taxes). They could charge more for bulk mail and make more money for moving less volume, but then they wouldn't need so much infrastructure to move the profitable mail around. That won't happen, because they wouldn't need as many personnel and the union just can't have that.

Hey, I'm not surprised, this is yet another failure of the Executive branch of the Federal govt. under Obama.

I'd still rather use the Postal Service over FedEx or Brown. In my experience they are cheaper and FAR more reliable.

But, yeah...typical gov't agency in terms of efficiency of operation.
