Jeep key not working

Went to dinner last night with the wife Went to start the jeep and nothing all lights and gauges radio work tried jumping the battery. Found the imobillizer light on at the dash. I think the transponder key went bad. The other bad is wife only has one key.
Does anyone know a locksmith on here that can program a key.or is it a dealer thing?

Happened on my wife's Nitro. Unhook the batter for a little bit and it might reset. Worked on her car.

Ace hardware has a sign that says that they make keys with transisters.

Depending on the type of "chipped" key, you might be able to solder in a resistor on the "sensor" wire under your dash.............I don't know the jeep for sure but I know some gm cars can be bypassed this way.

I read that online. But I don't think I know where to look for that. I'm going to go try unhooking the battery for a while and see what happens.

I tred ACE a while back they need two keys to do it

I did a quick google search but didn't find anyone saying that it was possible with that aged Jeep. Definitley something OP should look further into though.
