    Default Jeep key not working

Went to dinner last night with the wife Went to start the jeep and nothing all lights and gauges radio work tried jumping the battery. Found the imobillizer light on at the dash. I think the transponder key went bad. The other bad is wife only has one key.
Does anyone know a locksmith on here that can program a key.or is it a dealer thing?

Happened on my wife's Nitro. Unhook the batter for a little bit and it might reset. Worked on her car.

Just an FYI. The positive battery cable on many cars / trucks. The small red wire coming off the battery control's everything but the starter. And corrosion can and will build up at the battery in the wire. Preventing any start-up. I'd check that before buying any more keys. The moving of the cable might have loosened any corrosion making contact and there fore starting the vehicle. Happened to me on 4 different vehicles.

They were able to clone mine with just one key. On my grand cherokee, if you have both keys, the car will program the new key for you
