    I would say I didn't learn gun safety in school (learned that earlier from my father & uncle), I learned marksmanship from my high school... qualified for the rifle team... they used German air rifles (forget the model #) and I got very accurate with the coach's instruction... and learned fundamentals that I still use today.

    But I agree with the principle: gun safety should be taught from the first introduction to firearms- and the healthy respect for them built... teaching them that they're scary just teaches them that they can scare people with them...
