Here's mine and the transitions it's gone through. 2008 Yamaha R1 with a few mods...

    The day I got her.

Just before I went to track only.

    First track plastics.

    First race.

    During my first season.

    How she sits now.

Yep! Throw them on about 20 minutes before you head out.

The BMW is the only inline four cylinder that almost replicates the Vtwin feel, but it keeps pulling hard all the way up to 12k and then after that it feels like you hit another power band and it starts pulling even harder. The BMW is definitely the fastest out of the bunch and one of the best handling with a well rounded electronics package with it being the only superbike with grip heaters from the factory for those chili track mornings .. The jap bikes are just reliable. You can abuse them and beat on them and they just keep going. They don't handle as well as the others, dont have the power or torque, none of the fancy electronics, but they are just all around fun bikes to ride around town and the occasional track day or take long trips. The Duc is the most uncomfrotable to ride, especially if you try to take it on a trip due to it's aggressive ergo's setup purely for racing. The KTM was the most comfortable as you sit really low with the grips positioned kind of high. Riding this bike made me feel like I was riding a enduro with a big vtwin. Either way all these bikes were a total blast to ride..
thanks for that Stig, much appreciated. Yeah that Duc is pure sex. I had a big BMW1200 RT which was great for touring. Like riding a big couch

I knew a guy once that bought one of those big Ducati Monsters. Said he wasn't impressed with it and told the dealer about it. They asked how he was riding it and he told them, and they said "no no no, take it to XXXX rpm, hang on tight, then open it up". He sold it promptly afterwards! Scared the shit right out of him.
