I understand. The trial I was on basically was a 10yo got caught doing something she should not have and blamed it on grandpa. Pit bull DA tried to get a plea-bargain right up to the moment it went to trial and he had nothing. The investigator had nothing and the stories of how the "attack" took place could not have happened.

    You haven't noticed the trend?

Break a gun law and you're innocent until proven innocent.

Break any other law (especially if you're a cop) and you're guilty until proven more guilty.

This board does it every time.

Some people's career is the focal point of their existence and they continue to stay in the work force long after traditional retirement age because they legitimately enjoy their work.

I take no position on the accused person in this article.
He MAY be guilty ;he MAY not.
I don't have enough facts to make that determination

    But as an aside, ...

As for "innocent until proven guilty..."

Guilty or not, one's reputation and name are destroyed when these cases are reported publicly .

Hypothetically, let's say a guy accused, like in the article, was truly innocent.
Let's even say he was adjudicated and proven 100% innocent.

Such a person will always have that stigma attached to their names, when getting a job (especially a teaching or tutoring job) , moving to a new neighborhood, dating, trying to volunteer for a charitable organization, etc.

    Things like:
    - "He must have been guilty of SOMETHING, or they would not have arrested him."
    - "I did a quick internet search and Mr. XXX came up involved in a sexual assault case."
    - "Did you hear...he's a sex offender"
    - May lose firearms privileges/rights for being accused of a felony (Right or wrong, I've read things of this nature)

If the person had a wife and kids, they would be tormented, ridiculed, and ostracized as well.
