So my Saturday pretty much sucked.
Decided I'd try out some new ammo I got in a revolver before subjecting it to an NFA gun. I got three rounds in and then this happened.
I'll let the pictures do the talking for me.

Wow, that's fun.
Glad you didn't get hurt!

Good thing you caught that brother. That could have made your Saturday a lot worse.

I have too many 30 round pmags.
Must have been powdered mouse farts as the charge. At least it wasn't halfway through the barrel! Glad you're safe!
Thanks, all.
It was a commercial loading of .44 Special in FMJ. All new components & brass. Smaller / boutique loader with a reasonably good reputation, and this is a somewhat obscure product. I'll refrain from saying anything further for two reasons: a.) this could happen to anyone and b.) since it happened on the weekend, I have not had the opportunity to inform the manufacturer and get their opinion. I have a thousand rounds of this stuff, so although it was a completely random occurrence, it was disconcerting to have happen in the first four rounds.

Why does it look totally square? I've recovered bullets that weren't splattered and they kept the cone shape. Something different about this one?

Man, been there done that- sucks and good thing you (and your gun) weren't hurt. Mine was a 9mm keltec and i got multiple bullets jammed up in there before it blew the plastic bastard apart (damn semi-autos, LOL). Personally, I'd contact the manufacturer to replace and/or toss that ammo -if it's bad it's not worth the problems.
