Where did I say the people singing that song were illegal immigrants? You're trying to have two different conversations and are using that to try to catch my in something.

If I felt compelled to move to Mexico for a better life would I be greeted with open arms singing their national anthem in English?

...that learned the language and the American traditions. This is the "melting pot", not everyone take your own piece of the pot and stick to your native language and customs and don't integrate.

Because it's AMERICA the beautiful and it's to be sung in English. It's like flying the American Flag but instead of the good old red white & blue it's the exact same but in red, white & green for Mexican pride. You want to be American? Speak English. The least you can do is sing her sings in the native tongue.

I doubt many Mexicans would get sand in their vag if you were singing their anthem in another language, especially when the tune is clearly apparent to them while you do it.

America the Beautiful is not the national anthem, and I thought the commercial was leftist crap. We are a melting pot of cultures etc. but the vast majority of the country speaks English. The commercial had some underpinnings that I could do without, especially during the epitome of American Football. ...as so many of the non-US folks I have interacted of feel the need to tell me that football is played with a round ball.

As for the best commercial of the night, Oikos yogurt with the guys from Full House.

I realize it's not the National Anthem but I was trying to make a comparison. If you tell me an analog to America the Beautiful for Mexico I will amend my statement if necessary but the point still remains. I'm tired of acquiescing to foreigners who clearly don't care enough about our country to learn our native language. I spent a couple weeks in Mexico and spoke more Spanish than immigrants I have seen with my own eyes/ears that have lived her decades. You really have to go out of your way to not absorb some of a language of a nation you live in.

Why does it even bother you this much? America as it is today is a far cry from the idealistic version of America from 60 years ago, anyway.
