In my experience simply sanding it down and priming it will not fix the issue long term. Primer, as it's designed to be, is very porous by nature so it will allow top coats to adhere well to it. They need to be blasted and powder coated to REALLY be done right.
Aluminum corrosion is the "equivalent" of rusting metal all of the corrosion needs to be removed then it needs to be protected properly
Probably not exactly what you want to hear but its the right way to preserve them properly.
