He's lucky they chose to drop it, most jurisdictions won't. However, choosing to fight any traffic violation is a right few of us exercise. In the end, the alleged violation can only carry a set maximum penalty & in choosing to fight it you at least know the maximum you'll be on the hook for if you lose.

Of course, if you choose to fight an alleged traffic infraction, know going into the fight that most courts incorrectly put the burden of proof on the suspect, not on the government.

I've heard some are successfully defeating the photo-radar tickets by mounting a recessed slave flash unit next to their front plate. They usually cant it 23 degrees to the right.
The only pic they get is a large white bloom where the plate should be.
It's not against the law...yet...as the photo radars can only operate during daylight hours anyway.

I find that if I drive according to the rules of the road and follow all traffic laws and keep my vehicle up to date with maintenance and registration I don't get pulled over and ticketed, searched, etc..

    Works every time.

"if there is NO VICTIM…there is NO CRIME!”"

    This logic is wrong.

It is similar to people who:

    having a non-licensed sbr?
selling NV device (toy gen 1 level) to a foreign country?
selling weapon grade laser component/opticals to foreign dod?
Pushing the rock/boulder out of the place like the guy in Utah did?
selling armor plates to foreign countries?

You got it. Don't run red lights... voila, no ticket. Red lights aren't there to inconvenience you. They exist to let you know that cars from an opposing direction now have a green light. I know, logic is difficult for many to grasp.

CO is the only place I've ever lived where people will, more often than not, wait until the light turns red, and then turn left through the intersection. Blatant stupidity amazes me every time I see it.

....in Atlanta, it's five cars turn left per red. It's a bit unnerving at first but after a while you come to expect it in ATL and do not go when the light turns green as the left-turn crowd is just getting started.
