Default Ultimate (yet reasonable) AR build ideas

So, I got tentative permission from the wife to take some deployment funds and get myself a welcome home gift. It's a ways off, but I'd like to start sourcing parts sooner rather than later.

I recently discovered the MGI Marck 15, aka the Hydra... That currently holds the #1 spot on the list, I really like the idea of a true multi-cal platform. I'm also toying with the idea of an SBR build with a LM8 upper and an Arsenal Democracy Reaper 33 lower.

    What say you, COAR?

Or you can go with an up and comer and CO business in Double-D armory. I've got about 1000rds through one of Jays rifles and it shoots pretty good..

Failing that, I'd tell you to go with a proven performer. Colt, BCM, LMT could all give you a solid rifle and you'd have enough left over to buy an optic compared to what those Reaper 33 cost.

You worked hard for that money. I wouldn't lightly spend it on some flash in the pan gimmick. But it's your money.

Do you like competing? Might look into getting a nice 18" upper, slap an adjustable gas block and compensator, then get whatever lower (I like Mick-Boy's DD-Armory idea) and put a Giessele trigger in there (I have the super 3 gun trigger, it's expensive but amazing IMO). The hardest part will be finding an 18" in stock. Basically, build a 3-Gun rifle!

MGI has been out, close to 10 years. Unfortunately their presence in the AR world isn't as big as one would think. I have one of the first gen uppers, wasn't too bad. BUT, i prefer a platform specific upper, less shit laying around.

Mick-Boys advice is pretty solid. If you want something more custom, we build top of the line uppers in a variety of calibers and have lots of parts in stock. If you shop around, I think you will find we can build you what you want for less money than you can even get the parts for. I won't build anything where the parts are incompatible or unreliable.
