    Default USPS

This past Monday I mailed an envelope to another forum member. The envelope was mailed from Boulder to an address in Denver. Have a look at its progress so far (this would be comical if I didn't care about the contents of the envelope) -

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

What is sad is that more and more vendors, even Amazon - including Prime - are handing off directly or indirectly through UPS or FedEx to this fucked up waste of money that is called USPS.

I do still have to give them props for tracking down that package I sent you with no address on it. Derp! The only thing that saved it was the transaction barcode the self-service postage machine spit out.

I use FedEx Ground for the vast majority of my shipping needs and I think this incident will only cause me to do more so. A lost Christmas card? -I can live with it. However, USPS has lost enough things for me over the past 36 months that I really should have stopped using them long ago, even for simple letters.

Fixed, since we are subsidizing USPS.

The Postal Service is a lot of things but The USPS has not directly received taxpayer-dollars since the early 1980s with the minor exception of subsidies for costs associated with the disabled and overseas voters

And to beat the drum some more, the USPS delivers over 200bllion items year, compared to UPS 4billion and Fedx 1.5billion.
So rag on them all you want

To their credit, the NSA is the only agency of government that listens to the American people.

Subsidies are different from funding. Post office in my township get local subsidy as far as property taxes, building permit, and so on. I believe it goes the same in all of US.

At my last job in Denver, easily once a week we'd get completely random mail delivered to us (with address and return address not even close to Denver, including both from entirely different states). I'd even take that mail back to the post office and tell them to get their s*** together (ok I said it more politely than that) but the same mail would be redelivered to us in a couple days. I lost complete faith in the usps.
