    Say it...........SAY IT.............SAIGA

    68Charger,
I have tried to jam mine, using different ammo too. Have not succeeded yet. Have not tried everything, but I am working on it.

One thing I REALLY like, is that I can shoot it a BUNCH, and come home WITHOUT my shoulder having zebra stripes on it. The Kalashnikov action seems to absorb a LOT of the recoil. Have not tried shooting skeet or trap with it....yet.

+1 on that. The recoil is nil compared to my 870. I haven't converted it to Ak specs yet, but I'm gettting there. It's stock for now.
I spent my Obama Stimulus money on a GUN!

I really like my saiga. I have a bunch of surefire 12rd mags for mine. I used it at Hosers first steel match this year and it ran great. the only thing I would like to do is put the poly choke set up on it.

I worked at it, and finally get a FTE (not really a jam, since it was cleared by the bolt easily) incorrectly setting gas port at '1', using low-recoil 1oz shot, and shooting from my hip (no support)

set it on '2' and couldn't get it to FTE no matter how loose I held it..

the stock sights aren't the greatest- but the IZ-109 comes with a AK side mount for optics/red dot/etc
some parts would be hard to come by (right now barrels are an RAA only item), but kingarmory is working on (prototypes out) custom barrels... rifled, long, short, remington choke threads, extended forcing cone, heavy barrels, light barrels, etc... whatever options you're looking for, supposed to be available by fall

Yep, I think you'd lose that pot.

The Tromix S12 I used to have (reminder, never sell a gun you like) would bang away on the cheap ass winchester walmart ammo all day long.

I'd think we should have a "try to jam the Saiga-12" event at the next club shoot... bring some ammo you think won't function.. (besides 3 1/2" shells)
I'll bring the Saiga-12... maybe I'll even clean the gas tube

I haven't made it to a club shooting event yet- usually busy, or don't think I have something to contribute...

we could even make it interesting- $1 per shell... first one to jam it gets the pot! if it never jams, the pot goes for upgrades!!
or not- that's not to motivation... it's just a real kick to shoot!

    sounds like fun, anyway...

I'll bring some. your saiga will be no more though....I would wear some metal plated gloves

or some that are so weak they won't cycle the action.

still, go buy yourself an 11-87

if you are going to use it to hunt birds, you will want a sporting gun.

Saiga is fun to shoot, but not at pheasants launching going 60 mph, or ducks flying by at 45 mph, or geese that you will only wound and then have to fight to kill or run after and shoot again.

    take it from experience.

if you want a fun gun where you can simply BLAST targets, then get the saiga. hell, I shoot clay pigeons all the time with a pistol gripped 870 and mossberg 500. that takes skill and it is fun!

no fair hand loading shells beyond pressure specs..

I haven't used my Saiga for bird hunting- would imagine some pattern testing with a choke at the very least would be prudent...
it's known for having a very DURABLE barrel, but I don't think they put alot of effort into a smooth forcing cone...
I realize that a quality shotgun barrel is more than durable...
