I like his guts, but I find his logic flawed.
1. Evidence of his involvement - Depending on how the camera is set up, if it only flashed his car, then indeed this might work. However, if it got a picture of his face (which happened to me ~13 years ago in one of the roadside car speed trap vehicles), they could use that as said evidence.
2. Right to face his accuser - The accuser would be the state, not the camera.
3. Beyond a reasonable doubt - Pointing to my #1, with photo, you'd have to be rather ridiculous to use that.

I've sat at the red light watching the one at Arapahoe and Yosemite click of photos of green-light runners. Something was mis-firing yesterday.
The last two I rented from said they paid the fine and charged your credit card. You never got a chance to contest.
reminds me of the internet joke that went around a few years a go:
1) Guy receives picture of his plate in the mail and an amount for a fine.
2) Guy sends back picture of money for the fine amount
3) Guy receives picture of handcuffs .
