I thought that about no live fire as well, but then a bunch of people came out of the wood work saying that they got their certs in Adams without live fire.

Another piece of info just like the birth certificate and DD214 long form that should be stated on the APPLICATION in case folks don't go to the Sheriff's web page.

No problems, I'm glad my mistake was corrected. It's important that we have the right information out there, I wouldn't want to be responsible for someone inadvertently breaking the law.

Found this on the Adam County Sheriff site - information packet:

The Adams County Sheriff's Office will not accept hunter safety certificates. We STRONGLY recommend training that includes actual live-ammunition range training. We also ask that you personally observe your chosen instructor's credentials, and obtain a copy to present to us, if
    requested.

Sounds optoinal to me. I just goy my CCW through Adams Count in June, they took 89 of the 90 days they have. My understanding is that they will take the full 90 days regardless of the number of permits they are looking at, they don't even take them to the office for sigining until the 88th day. Good luck.

I'm not even going to worry about if or not.... We are going to go through jim on here for her training. His class is taught AT the range all while going through the legal stuff and shooting..... I wouldn't even think about her not having range time, but, am still leery of all the poorly typed crap on Adams Co web page. Looks like they did that to confuse people. I also like their LIST of approved instructors. It's not legal IMO.... I bet Dudley would have a hay day with them if he ever called to complain....
    Shhhh, be vewwy vewwy quiet.

Don't tell anyone but I am an attorney. Don't ask me to represent you, I only do legal and mechanic work for my kids (I was a Master Tech for 21 years).

I have read the statutes several times and if Adams county is requiring live shooting, birth certificate and/or DD214 or any other form they are violating both the spirit and the letter of the law. The statute is very clear on what is required, the application form is uniform throughout the state. The only required identification is a drivers license or state issued or military ID card.

Adams County does not require a live fire course. I've had numerous students get their permit, from Adams County, without it.

I have not confirmed the ID issue.
