Not to all, but certain celebrities have influence on groups of people.
This is an interesting point. I might be too opinionated, or just different in how I form my own opinions.
If I need to know whether I should run a 4-3 or 3-4 defense, I'd be curious of his opinion.
Gun stuff? He's just as influential to me personally as Piers Morgan. Or Philip Seymour Hoffman. Or Tom Cruise. Or Richard Sherman and Pete Carroll.

But the interesting part is the bolded. If you are on the fence, or "a big anti" and suddenly it was John Elway who swayed you, do we want this person advocating for our side suddenly? Other than their simple vote, my initial reaction is not. I want the "we" you describe above. Although I do like that maybe they do re-evaluate, so …Maybe. But I want them to come to their own educated conclusion rather than blindly following someone else. Especially a celebrity.

Even if he didn't, he may just be sort of a Fudd who doesn't care all that much.
    I enjoy shooting a lot.
If I were just silly wealthy, I might not shoot at all (or care at all) as I spend my life worthlessly chasing sportscars, exotic vacations, the perfect beer, etc, etc, etc.

"I don't own a machine gun," Elway replied.
"Machine gun"? He's already been indoctrinated against semi-auto's and "military style" firearms. Before he could possibly speak as a Pro-2A supporter, he'd need to be educated.

He said he didn't see a reason anyone would need one and said "that's the side I'm waiting to hear about." ***
He's also one of those people who thinks "want" isn't sufficient to meet the Second Amendment, it has to be a "need".

And as far as RMGO, they garner more negative publicity to our cause than they do for it. I recommend everyone stay as far away from them as you can.

I sold him two cars in the past when he was out of the dealership game. Have me his personal cell phone number, answered every time I called.

When I was still working at a local shooting range Elway came in and did some shooting. I got a picture with him, nice enough guy.

Elway sounds like a FUDD to me ... I think he's more interested in selling cars and keeping the crony capitalist money flowing from the people's coffers into his team's bank account so I expect he'll side with whatever regime is in power in Denver but won't take positions on controversial issues.

    So screw 'im.

Taking Elway out of the equation, or or any celebrity for that matter, you bring up a good point about educating someone and someone drawing their own educated conclusions. Perhaps that is why someone is "gun shy" (yes pun intended) because no one has educated them. This alone is the best part of me teaching students. When they come in and have a firearm and havnt even taken it out of the box yet because they are so scared of it, but after a few hours of "educating" and "training" they walk away with a whole new respect, perspective and an understanding of the firearm. So any time I can have the opportunity to talk to someone who is either scared of guns or plain against them I try and educate them of the joys of gun ownership, not discount their opinions or write them off, I'd like to think that education of safe , proper, responsible firearm handing is a positive thing and not negative.

Education is power and nothing is obvious to the uninformed.

But all I can say to your comment is...Not my chair, not my problem

And Yes, we should get in touch with Elway and see if he will speak on behalf of our beloved Colorado traditions.

Nobody would take him seriously after the flaming turd called "Super Bowl" anyway.
